Bridges are nice.

JMT 2011, Day 15 -- 9/12/11

Summary   Prev   Next

Start: 886 Stop: 900.8 Hiked: 14.8

We sleep in this morning. Finally on the trail at 10:10. Beautiful morning: a few white fluffly clouds And lots of blue sky.

The first part of the hike was down a canyon toward Cascade Valley to our low point of 9130. Then we started up toward Tully Hole and on to Lake Virginia at 10300. We ripped in the morning and the 1300 foot climb didn't seem to bother us. We are all in much better shape than when we started.

Lake Virginia was beautiful. We stopped there for lunch (1:36pm). Then we hiked for the rest of the day without hardly any break. Lots of climbs and descents of more than 500 feet. We are camped near the Deer Creek crossing which is about 6 miles from Reds Meadow.

As we cooked dinner it started to rain on us. But not much, so we were able to finish dinner around a nice campfire. After we got in our tents we were treated to some bright lightning and thunder, accompanied with some light rain (so far).

Looking forward to Reds in the morning. Hopefully I can talk to Carol and decide how to finish the trip.
