Here, we are standing in Washington. We have completed the PCT in Oregon. It is about 4:00 pm. We hiked about 14 miles today, on an alternate route that took us by the famous Eagle Creak Trail, and its many waterfalls. Eagle Creak was a beautiful, easy trail. But the trail we used to cut over to it was really rough and steap. Very hard to pass. Additionally, the last two miles today was on a cemented bike path, that put new blisters on our feet, so we are pretty tired.
But, boy are we happy. We accomplished our goal! But, almost as good, the "trail" runs right by a Best Western, with showers, Laundry Room, and hot tub. We already have rooms for the night.
Tomorrow we will talk about what's next, weither we will continue into Washington this year or not. Tonight we are going to celebrate.
But, boy, it has been a great trip. Much harder than I expected. The common wisdom is that Oregon is flat and you can run right through it. Not the case. The many volcanic mountians give plenty of up and down, combined with unfavorable weather, and mosquitoes, made for a challenging trip. Although glad I did it, I am not sure if I would want to do it again.
